There is wear around the edges on the exterior box

There is a fair amount of wear and erosion to the surface of the cast iron

I have not tried to polish it

which that same year had changed its name from Liggett & Myers to The Liggett Group

They remain in excellent condition

Primitive Handmade Box With Curved Sides planter with handles There is wear around theI'm guessing this old box was made for a specific purpose, as these curved sides seems pretty unusual, and it appears there are old staples along the top edges of the shorter sides which perhaps held some covering in place? Maybe it held cheese? Or bread? Whatever the case, I love its roughness and the shape of it, and think it would be terrific filled with apples or hedge apples, or great on the counter for holding mail, or in the wood shop or studio
