at whose estate sale I found it—that it was something—and I was right

7 1/2" long x 5" wide

with some scratches and rust and a little spots of paint

I purchased it from the estate sale of a woman who had a phenomenal collection of textiles from around the world

as well as a white stain around part of the rim of the base

Carved Arts and Crafts Large Wooden Scrapbook Japanese flower frog at whose estate sale IWhoever created this large wooden scrapbook long ago must have had pretty grand expectations for the arts and crafts projects it would contain, as they put an awfully lot of work into the carving of the cover, and did a very beautiful job, I think! Perhaps they made it to bind the work of a class, or a group of summer campers, or maybe just their own masterpieces. I found it empty, but would certainly love to see it put to use, though I might myself
