The procession in her honour of her release marched from Marble Arch to the Aldwych Theatre. Emmeline Pethick Lawrence (1864 1942) was a highly effective fund raiser and treasurer for the suffragette movement, raising the equivalent of 3 million in five years. She was arrested four times and served over four months in prison.
