Description
The Ibis in Egyptian culture was traditionally associated with Thoth the god of wisdom and writing
What a brilliantly resourceful--and aesthetically just right--means of creating a frame for this small photo portrait of a young boy
as is the bottom of the interior tray
or rabid reader
Really a fun one I think
Pink Cottage, Water, Big Tree - Super Soft and Atmospheric Old Oil on Canvas Painting to hang The Ibis in Egyptian cultureSuch a wonderful softness to this one, feeling almost more as if stained than painted, with the effect of seeing as if having just coming into view after a lifting fog. All very transportive, like a serene corner of the world. 14" x 9" and in good antique condition, oil on canvas, late 19th early 20th century I would guess. One tiny tiny hole in the canvas, visible from the reverse but hard to detect at all from the front. Found in Maine.
