The fishing hawk mb-code CMF2008cover Lord Salisbury (left) and SirBird identified by Catesby as 'Accipiter piscatorius', the fishing hawk (modern scientific name: Pandion haliaetus, the osprey), and a fish, probably a grey mullet, Mugil cephalus. Plate 2 from volume I of The natural history of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands, by Mark Catesby (London, 1731). Mark Catesby was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1733.
