and that little handful of flowers that surely he picked himself

as accurately documented in photos

but on the underside of the box in what appears to be the same hand one can just make out "To Mummy"

with a small scratch to the surface of one of one of the lighter swallows

I am not expert in the least, but this one appears closely in keeping with traditional Thanka mandala, with Yantra at center (the circle inside of triangle inside of circle); then square divided by color into four quadrants
