Alfred Elmore, artist and Royal Academician Product:Greetings card Sir Claudius Stephen HunterAlfred Elmore, artist and Royal Academician, 1881. Elmore (1815 1881), first exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1834, when aged only 19. He became an associate of the Academy in 1845 and a full member in 1856. Born in Ireland, Elmore was primarily a painter of historical subjects, his best known work being 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' (1857), depicting a scene from the Shakespeare play of the same name.
