this wine is now a candidate for drying out given its hollow middle and hard
but couldn’t have asked for better teachers than Angelo and Lucia Gaja
licorice and sweet spices
white flowers and plenty of wet stone character
There is excellent volume but also fine precision to the well-detailed
Gaja, Gaia & Rey Vintage:2018 this wine is now aBright yellow. More reticent on the nose than the 2007, hinting at stone fruits and toast. Gives a sweeter impression on entry, then turns a bit more clenched in spite of its fleshiness and inherent pliancy, showing considerable power and structure. A classically dry, broad chardonnay with flavors of pear and peach pit complicated by well integrated toasty oak.
