Indian cobra Size:XL: 100 x 80cm whilst a man with aDual study of Indian cobra heads ('Naja tripudians'), including regional variant names 'Khoyah Gokurrah from Dehl' and 'Dudian Kurrees Gokurrah from Calcutta'. Pencil annotation 'Plate 8' between the two watercolours with a pencil sketch to indicate the position of a third watercolour [RS. 8448] on the final plate, with an instruction 'Plate 9 might come in here'. The reptiles are noted as being drawn from life. This painting forms part of plate 6 of
